Puerto Banús is one of Spain’s most famous marinas situated in the heart of the costa del sol, here you’ll find the very best beach clubs and super yachts that are moored owned by both celebrities and the extremely wealthy. Built back in the 1970’s by Jose Banús, a local property developer as a luxury marina and shopping complex.
Here you will also find designer shops such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo and Dolce and Gabbana to name but a few plus a large shopping centre El Corte Inglés as well as lots of bars and restaurants that overlook the port giving you splendid views of the boats and super cars.
If lovely beaches is what you prefer then Puerto Banús is within walking distance of great sandy beaches all with chiringuitos – beach shacks so you can stay refreshed in the hot summer sun all day, Mistral beach is just one of them serving drinks and food and also has water sport facilities.
Recently built is a promenade between Marbella and San Pedro, stretching over 17 kilometres which you can stroll between the two towns or visit various beaches without having to use the busy main road or the hot sand.
List of nearby beaches include:
San Pedro de Alcántara is a long wide straight beach, this beach is never too crowded due to its size, high standard of cleanliness carries a blue flag award, red cross first aid post, no car park, cycle paths.
Playa cortijo Blanca is 500 m long and wide offers a number of restaurants and chiringuitos.
Playa Nueva Andalucía is the closest to Puerto Banús and is connected to many of the more trendy beach clubs such as Buddha beach where you’ll often find reality tv stars lapping up the sun and ambiance.
Playa el faro is just to the west of Marbella and is a very busy beach due to its close proximity to the old town and for families wanting to amuse the children it has a large children’s play area, the sea is shallow and the waves are calmer it has plenty of shelter for those wanting to abstain from the sun.
In short Puerto Banús has something for all ages be it Nightlife with its clubs and bars for the young or great beaches and restaurants for a more relaxed atmosphere for families and the more elderly of us.
